Here's the recipe for a Homemade Bubble Solution that Sharie and I make. It's based on Dawn 2X dish soap. When blowing bubbles, remember to let the children have a turn!
Ingredients can be found at Walmart and many other retailers. Bubble Solutions are all soap based and may be irritating to eyes if handled carelessly. Young children must be supervised.
Many bubble recipes include Glycerin (a topical skin emollient). Glycerin enables bubbles to close and even "heal" rather than pop!
Safety Product Assessments of Glycerin are readily available on the web. Please Confirm the quality and safety of any Glycerin purchased with the pharmacist on duty.
Note: The order in which ingredients are added is crucial.
— First we pour 2 Litres (or 2 quarts) of distilled or reverse osmosis water into a large mixing bowl. Tap-water will do—if it's relatively soft.
— Next we add one (packed or generous) level teaspoon full of baking powder to the water and dissolve it, using a whisk.
— Then 50 ML (1.6 fluid ounces) of Glycerin (Topical Skin Emollient) is added and mixed in carefully.
— Finally 638 ML (21.6 FL OZ) of DAWN ULTRA is added. A small amount of additional water can be used to swish out any soap remaining in the container.
— After carefully mixing in the soap, we pour the Bubble Solution into a jug and let it rest overnight. Bubbles blown after letting the mixture rest, often last so long—they float right out of sight!
Bubbles instill an innocent sense of wonder in children and adults alike!
